Rushes and Reeds

"To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place" Elliott Erwitt

I see immense beauty in simple rushes, reeds and grasses. I love their movement and the way the light plays on them, creating patterns and textures.

Here are a few of my favourite rushes and reeds shots.

Soft evening light across the marshes on an early autumn evening, Teste de Buch, just south of Arcachon, France.

Joyful contrast of colours, capturing the gentle heat and soft light of English summer, dunes at Southwold, Suffolk.

Here in these dry grasses I wanted to capture the harshness of the Greek summer sun, Koufonissi, Cyclades Islands.

I like the wind on the grasses here, taken on another Greek island, this time Symi.

Below, early summer in Samos. I enjoyed playing with the pattern of the clouds against the moving reeds.

The photographs in this collection are available to purchase as prints.
