Greek cats

I took most of these shots during the summer of 2015, when Greece was going through a tug-of-war with the EU over their massive deficit and struggling to stay within the Eurozone. Despite their financial hardships the Greeks maintain a fierce pride and stubbornly resist being ordered around, yet still maintain compassion for others as witnessed in their reaction to Syrian refugees. These cats seemed to me to also embody that mix of fierce and gentle.
